Deer Class is a Key Stage 3/4 class which follow the EQUALS Moving On esSENtials for life14+ Curriculum. This Curriculum allows our students to learn and consolidate a range of valuable and functional skills with the aim of helping them prepare for their adult life.

This class take part in lots of functional lessons, including Literacy, Numeracy and ICT. Daily Living Skills are an essential part or our students’ learning and that is the reason why they have regular access to a range of lessons and experiences such as Travel Training, Cooking or Shopping which contribute to the development of their independence.

Deer Class also take part in Physical Development sessions to improve their balance and co-ordination. This can be both in school and at local leisure and sports facilities including the Absolutely Together Bowling, Karting and Laser Tag venues. Relationships and Sex Education is an important part of our Curriculum and is taught weekly in order to model or students’ understanding around concepts such as privacy, consent, the changes taking part in their bodies during puberty and how to build healthy and meaningful relationships. The younger pupils in Coppice also work collaboratively with Gemstones Department in de development of their Creative Arts by taking part in enriching experiences such as the Young Voices.
