Admin Officer

 

Location:                             Chiltern Wood School – (Studley Green)

Grade:                                   Range 2 – Range 3 DOE (£21,879 - £26,295 FTE)

Hours:                                  36.25 hours per week, 39 weeks per year

Responsible to:                 HR Manager

Chiltern Wood School is a Special School currently supporting over 200 students ranging from ages 3 to 19 years.  We are currently based on two sites and are expanding to a third site in September 2024 – Studley Green.

As part of the expansion of our site, we are actively recruiting another Admin Officer to join our team.  The Admin Officer will present an efficient and professional approach to the running of a busy school office. Alongside other duties, the Admin Officer will be the first point of contact to visitors entering the school and will be expected to present a professional and welcoming manner supporting all stakeholders. The successful candidate will build professional working relationships with all departments across the school ensuring prompt and effective communication at all times; assisting with a full range of duties to support all departments, including correspondence with external agencies, coordination of meetings and maintenance of pupil records.                                                                                                                                                  

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in an administrative role – school experience, whilst desirable, is not essential.  We are aiming to recruit and appoint after the May half term to allow ample time for a full handover in preparation of the opening of the new site.

This role will work collaboratively with the HR Manager and wider Admin function as well as site staff at Studley Green, therefore it is imperative that the successful candidate  has strong communication and interpersonal skills, to ensure that they are able to work effectively with all key stakeholders.

Senior Support Assistant

Location: Cressex Site

36 hrs per week term time + INSET days (39 weeks per year)

Bucks Pay Range 3.16  FTE: £24,310 per annum - Actual pay £20,060 per annum

 

We are seeking dynamic Senior Support Assistants to work closely alongside our class teachers to deliver high quality, meaningful education to our pupils. Our school vision is “Success Through Well-Being”, with our primary focus on independent living skills, community involvement, effective communication and self-regulation. We are looking for senior support staff with strong leadership and organisational skills who can lead a class of up to 8 students during the class teacher’s PPA, as well as support the class teacher.  This is a perfect opportunity for those who are looking for teaching / leading experience and those considering completing a teaching qualification in the future. Job Description

This job description describes in general terms the normal duties which the post-holder will be expected to undertake. However, the job or duties described may vary or be amended from time to time without changing the level of responsibility associated with the post.

Teaching and Learning

  1. Assist in the educational and social development of pupils under the direction and guidance of the class teacher, line manager and other school staff.
  2. Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Programmes and curriculum target setting for pupils and help monitor their progress.
  3. Provide support for individual pupils inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in activities.
  4. Work with other professionals, such as therapists and psychologists, as necessary.
  5. Assist with the maintenance of pupil records.
  6. Support pupils with a range of special needs and help develop their social skills.
  7. Plan and prepare one morning or afternoon lesson per week with support from the class teacher.
  8. Lead class to allow class teacher time for planning, preparation and assessment.
  9. Supervise class to cover short-term absence of class teacher as required.

Administrative Duties

  1. Ensure learning journals effectively captures pupils progress, under the direction of the class teacher.
  2. Daily communication with parents
  3. Timely reporting of behaviour, medical, and safeguarding information.

Standards and Quality Assurance

  1. Support the aims and ethos of the school.
  2. Set a good example in terms of dress, punctuality and attendance.
  3. Attend team and staff meetings as required.
  4. Undertake professional duties that may be reasonably assigned by the class teacher.
  5. Be proactive in matters relating to health and safety.

Other duties and responsibilities

  1. Attend to the physical well-being of pupils as appropriate to their individual needs, including personal care.
  2. Actively supervise pupils at the beginning and end of the day, including escorting to transport.
  3. Actively supervise and engage pupils in a range of activities during break and lunchtimes.
  4. Undertake Team Teach training and be prepared to undertake any training necessary to support professional development.
  5. Undertake Child Protection training in accordance with Bucks Council guidance.

Full Time and Part Time Teaching Assistants

Term time  (38 weeks per year) INSET Days claimed as overtime as required.

Hours: 32.45 hours per week  between the hours of 8.15am – 15.45pm with additional hour on Tuesday ad-hoc for training (to 4.45pm)

Part time positions (if available) are for 2 -4 days per week

Bucks Pay Range 1b – R2 FTE: £20,297- £23,961 per annum Full Time Equivalent

Actual pay £14,856 - £17,538 per annum based on 32.45 hours per week

Downley site vacancies are based in Woodland Department, catering for pupils who have Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties or Severe Learning Difficulties with additional physical and sensory needs.

Cressex site vacancies are based across all departments, working with children with severe learning difficulties and complex ASD.

We are looking for supply teaching assistants to join our school to work flexibly across term time. Our school’s vision is “Success Through Wellbeing”, and we strongly believe that the wellbeing of our staff is vital to support the wellbeing of our pupils. As well as this, consistency and familiar faces are very important to our children.

Therefore, we are seeking to hire supply teaching assistants in order to provide flexibility to concentrate on other commitments when needed, take holidays during term time or give short notice of availability. Having a selection of known Chiltern Wood supply teaching assistants will provide a familiar face to the children, as well as ensure our supply staff are appropriately trained and have the right experience to support our pupils.

Chiltern Wood School is a 3-19 special needs school catering for children with complex needs including sensory processing needs and autism spectrum disorder.
