Fox Class is a Sixth Form class which follow the EQUALS Moving On esSENtials for life14+ Curriculum. This Curriculum allows our students to learn and consolidate a range of valuable and functional skills with the aim of helping them prepare for their adult life.
This class take part in lots of functional lessons, including Literacy, Numeracy and ICT. Independent Living in an essential part or our Sixth Form learners and that is the reason why they have access to a range of weekly lessons and experiences such as Travel Training, Daily Living Skills, Cooking or Shopping which contribute to the development of their independence and life skills. Vocational Studies and post-school planning are also paramount for Fox class. Through the year, our students spend lots of time creating personal profiles, accessing career advice sessions and visiting different settings which could meet their needs so they can continue their learning when they leave Chiltern Wood. The class also takes part in weekly work experience sessions with different providers such as the One can Trust, The Rogue Leisure Centre, The Wycombe Swan or St Katherine’s Memorial Garden. We continue stablishing links to make sure that we can increase the work-related opportunities offered to our students.
Fox Class also take part in Physical Development sessions to improve their balance and co-ordination. This can be both in school and at local leisure and sports facilities including the Rickmansworth Aquadrome, the Handy Cross Swimming pool and the Absolutely Together Karting and Laser Tag venues. Relationships and Sex Education is an important part of our Curriculum and is taught weekly in order to model or students’ understanding around concepts such as privacy, consent, the changes taking part in their bodies during puberty and how to build healthy and meaningful relationships.
