Gemstones – Classroom Teacher and Department Lead (Downley)

Primary ASC/SLD

Salary – DOE £30,000 - £46,525

TLR 2 - £3,214 per annum

We are currently recruiting for a class teacher and  Department Leader to join our Gemstones department (KS1-KS2 ASC/SLD) at our lovely Downley site– working with children with severe and complex learning difficulties, including those with Autism Spectrum Condition.  We welcome applications from those who have previously taught in mainstream schools and ECTs.

 

We are actively recruiting for a Classroom Teacher and Department Lead to join/oversee our Gemstones Department. 

This is an exciting opening for someone who is hoping to take on additional responsibility and is a wonderful career progression opportunity.

 

As Class Teacher the successful candidate will work in our primary department for pupils with complex learning, social and sensory needs. In addition, will have a strong desire to work with a challenging and rewarding group of pupils, and understand how to build positive relationships with pupils, their families and supporting professionals. These departments have a strong emphasis on “learning for life” and preparing the children for early adulthood. Communication, regulation and life skills are at the core of our curriculum.

 

Further Department Lead Accountability:-          

  • Monitoring the quality of teaching of classes of age and ability range; this to include moderating outcomes for pupils, book/work scrutiny, planning scrutiny and monitoring home/school contact
  • Developing the quality of teaching within age range and specialism through research and practice
  • Preparation for adulthood – needs more information Embedding Preparation for Adulthood Skills across the department

Specific responsibilities:

 

The post-holder provides a clear direction for the work of teachers within the age range and ability, promoting high standards through personal involvement in collaboration with the headteacher and senior leaders.  The postholder ensures that:

 

  • There is a clear rationale to the work undertaken within the age range and specialism, reported to governors and shared with school stakeholders
  • There is rigorous monitoring, evaluation and development of the methods used in teaching within the age range and specialism.
  • The views of relevant stakeholders, including parents and pupils, are sought and used to evaluate and further develop wider curriculum and assessment work pertaining to the age range and specialism.
  • Links with parents, including the involvement of the parent ambassador, contribute to pupils’ learning within the age range and at home.

 

In addition to all these specific responsibilities the post-holder may be required to undertake any additional responsibility within the areas of accountability that might reasonably be deemed to be part of the job.

School Business Manager

Location:                             Chiltern Wood School – Multi Site (Cressex , Downley, Studley Green)

Grade:                                   Range 9 – Range 10 DOE (£47,788 - £61,401 FTE)

Hours:                                  37 hours per week, 44 weeks per year (39 weeks + 5 weeks)

Responsible to:                 Headteacher & Governors

Responsible for:               Administration, Human Resources, Premises, Finance and Catering Staff

Chiltern Wood School is a Special School currently supporting over 200 students ranging from ages 3 to 19 years.  We are currently based on two sites and are expanding to a third site in September 2024. 

As part of the expansion of our site, we are actively recruiting a School Business Manager (SBM) to join our team.  The SBM is responsible for managing the strategy and operation of the business functions of our school, including financial management, health and safety, human resources, compliance and administration.

The successful candidate will advise on and implement the day-to-day resources that enables the school to operate effectively and efficiently, and that allows other members of the leadership team to focus on teaching and learning.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a leadership and/or management position, preferably within a school or educational setting.   In addition, would have knowledge of both financial and HR management to support the school.

This role will work collaboratively with the Senior Leadership Team as well as the Governing Body and will therefore have strong communication and interpersonal skills, to ensure that they are able to work effectively with all key stakeholders.

                      Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL)

Location:                             Chiltern Wood School – Multi Site (Cressex , Downley, Studley Green)

Hours:                                  37 hours – flexibility for the right candidate –

                                                Monday - Friday, 39 weeks per year (On call during the holidays on a Rota basis)

Responsible to:                 Deputy Head Teacher / Safeguarding Lead

Chiltern Wood School is a Special School currently supporting over 200 students ranging from ages 3 to 19 years.  We are currently based on two sites and are expanding to a third site in September 2024. 

As part of the expansion of our site, we are actively recruiting a Deputy DSL to join our team.  The Deputy DSL is responsible for providing support for designated safeguarding and to ensure that pupil’s needs in relation to both safeguarding and well being are prioritised and embedded within the school’s strategic planning and day to day operations.  

The successful candidate will work with the safeguarding team to ensure that full support is in place to promote the welfare and protection of our pupils and vulnerable families.

In addition, the Deputy DSL will provide through administrative support to the safeguarding team, manage a case load, support and attend meetings, and ensure that all processes followed comply with school policies.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience of SEN, having worked within a safeguarding and/or medical remit.

Senior Support Assistant

(Cressex Site)

36 hrs per week term time + INSET days (39 weeks per year)

Bucks Pay Range 3.16  FTE: £24,310 per annum - Actual pay £20,060 per annum

 

We are seeking dynamic Senior Support Assistants to work closely alongside our class teachers to deliver high quality, meaningful education to our pupils. Job Description

This job description describes in general terms the normal duties which the post-holder will be expected to undertake. However, the job or duties described may vary or be amended from time to time without changing the level of responsibility associated with the post.

 

Teaching and Learning

  1. Assist in the educational and social development of pupils under the direction and guidance of the class teacher, line manager and other school staff.
  2. Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Programmes and curriculum target setting for pupils and help monitor their progress.
  3. Provide support for individual pupils inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in activities.
  4. Work with other professionals, such as therapists and psychologists, as necessary.
  5. Assist with the maintenance of pupil records.
  6. Support pupils with a range of special needs and help develop their social skills.
  7. Plan and prepare one morning or afternoon lesson per week with support from the class teacher.
  8. Lead class to allow class teacher time for planning, preparation and assessment.
  9. Supervise class to cover short-term absence of class teacher as required.

Administrative Duties

  1. Ensure learning journals effectively captures pupils progress, under the direction of the class teacher.
  2. Daily communication with parents
  3. Timely reporting of behaviour, medical, and safeguarding information.

Standards and Quality Assurance

  1. Support the aims and ethos of the school.
  2. Set a good example in terms of dress, punctuality and attendance.
  3. Attend team and staff meetings as required.
  4. Undertake professional duties that may be reasonably assigned by the class teacher.
  5. Be proactive in matters relating to health and safety.

Other duties and responsibilities

  1. Attend to the physical well-being of pupils as appropriate to their individual needs, including personal care.
  2. Actively supervise pupils at the beginning and end of the day, including escorting to transport.
  3. Actively supervise and engage pupils in a range of activities during break and lunchtimes.
  4. Undertake Team Teach training and be prepared to undertake any training necessary to support professional development.
  5. Undertake Child Protection training in accordance with Bucks Council guidance.
