Possible Department leader role for the right candidate

We have a vacancy for a teacher in our school – working with children with severe and complex learning difficulties, including those with Autism Spectrum Condition.  We welcome applications from those who have previously taught in mainstream schools and ECTs.

Chiltern Wood School is a Special School currently supporting over 200 students ranging from ages 3 to 19 years, located across two sites in Cressex and Downley.  We offer the opportunity to become part of a team of caring professionals, contributing purposefully to meeting the special educational needs of children in the High Wycombe area.  You will be well supported by welcoming and knowledgeable staff within a well-run, hard-working school which holds as its core value the wellbeing of its pupils, parents and staff. 

We have an opportunity for Class Teachers to work in our primary or secondary departments for pupils with complex learning, social and sensory needs. The successful candidate will have a strong desire to work with a challenging and rewarding group of pupils, and understand how to build positive relationships with pupils, their families and supporting professionals. These departments have a strong emphasis on “learning for life” and preparing the children for early adulthood. Communication, regulation and life skills are at the core of our curriculum.

There is also an opportunity for experienced staff to apply for a department leader role in either our Coppice Department - new secondary pathway for SLD and MLD pupils, or Treetops Department - complex SLD pupils. Class Teacher (PMLD)

Woodland Department caters for pupils who have Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties or Severe Learning Difficulties with additional physical and sensory needs. We pride ourselves on building positive relationships with our pupils, their families and supporting professionals to enable communication, physical, social and emotional development for each individual.

We have extensive facilities on site to support this development and provide learning opportunities through a variety of experiences, lessons and routines.

Speech & Language Therapist Opportunities, including Team Lead (Band 5 - 8)

Bucks Pay Range 5 - 9 ( Actual pay £25,128 - £41,135) dependent on qualifications and experience

Working hours: 37 hours per week plus 5 inset days plus 2 weeks

Chiltern Wood School educates children and young people with a broad diversity of complex needs, including Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD), Severe Speech, Language and Communication Needs, and Complex Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC).

We have exciting opportunities to join our welcoming and creative speech and language therapy team. The team is well-resourced with its own budget for resources and specialist ICT equipment, has a commitment to evidence-based therapy, and works closely with the wider multi-disciplinary team. Therapists collaborate with class teams and parents to embed therapeutic strategies across the day. This includes a high level of direct work with pupils, coaching of class teams within the classroom environment, and frequent opportunities to deliver staff and parent training sessions.

We are seeking to appoint two therapists (Band 5 – 7) and one Speech and Language Therapy Team Lead (Band 8). The Team Lead will hold a caseload and have managerial responsibilities for the team. For all posts, we would welcome applicants who have existing specialist skills in Dysphagia, Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), ASC or PMLD.
