Department Lead - Coppice

The Coppice department comprises of four classes for children with a range of severe to complex needs including Autism, Speech, Language and Communication Needs, Social, Physical and Sensory related difficulties. We follow the Chiltern Wood Combined Curriculum which combines a ‘learning through play’ approach with functional learning. Language and enquiry is developed through the delivery of a motivating curriculum that is personalised to each and every child, and fosters a ‘have a go’ attitude. 

Salary Allowance: £2,873 TLR

Accountable to: Assistant Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher, Headteacher

Performance Managed by: Assistant Headteacher

Accountable for:             

  • Monitoring the quality of teaching of classes of age and ability range; this to include moderating outcomes for pupils, book/work scrutiny, planning scrutiny and monitoring home/school contact
  • Developing the quality of teaching within age range and specialism through research and practice

The responsibilities defined in this job description are undertaken in addition to your responsibilities as a class teacher as defined in the class teacher job description.

Specific responsibilities:

The post-holder provides a clear direction for the work of teachers within the age range and ability, promoting high standards through personal involvement in collaboration with the headteacher.  The postholder ensures that:

  • There is a clear rationale to the work undertaken within the age range and specialism, reported to governors and shared with school stakeholders
  • There is rigorous monitoring, evaluation and development of the methods used in teaching within the age range and specialism.
  • The views of relevant stakeholders, including parents and pupils, are sought and used to evaluate and further develop wider curriculum and assessment work pertaining to the age range and specialism.
  • Links with parents, including the involvement of the parent ambassador, contribute to pupils’ learning within the age range and at home.

Speech & Language Therapist (Band 5 - 7)

Bucks Pay Range 5 - 8 

Actual pay £24,854 – £39,936 (FTE £27,802 - £44,374)

Working hours: 37 hours per week plus 5 inset days plus 2 weeks

We have exciting opportunities within our team for band 5 – band 7 therapists to support with the assessment of our young people and assist with the provision of Speech and Language Therapy, under the supervision of a highly specialist therapist. The successful candidates will work as part of a thriving multi-disciplinary team, planning and implementing therapeutic strategies to support a wide range of speech, language and communication needs. They will also have opportunities to develop skills in working with children with Dysphagia and Augmentative and Alternative Communication with appropriate support and training.

Experience of working with pupils with learning difficulties, ASD, and a wide range of complex needs is desirable.

Occupational Therapist (Band 6)

We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist to support with the assessment of our young people and assist with the provision of Occupational Therapy across the school. The successful candidate will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, planning and implementing therapeutic strategies to support a wide range of functional motor and sensory needs.

Experience of working with pupils with learning difficulties, ASD, and a wide range of complex needs is essential.
