Admissions
The admission of pupils to the school will normally take place following the completion of the Assessment Procedure, leading to an Education & Health Care Plan (EHCP). Applications for specialist provision must be submitted by school SENCOs to their assigned Education, Health, & Care Co-ordinator (EHCCo), and agreed at panel.
The school accepts pupils at any time during the academic year following Local Authority procedures for referral. A place will be offered by the Local Authority if the needs of the child can be met by Chiltern Wood School and there is a suitable space. Please contact the local authority for more information on our admissions and appeal arrangements.
We receive significantly more placement consultations each year than we have spaces available. Whilst we fully recognise that a child may require a specialist placement, we may not always be able to accommodate them. To give you an indication of demand, this academic year alone we have received 400 placement consultations for the limited number of spaces we have.
All parents of prospective pupils will be invited to visit the school, to view our classes and facilities, and to discuss the work of the school with the Headteacher, Deputy, or Assistant Head. If you would like to arrange a visit please contact our school admin team office@chilternwood.bucks.sch.uk.
Transport
Daily transport to school is arranged by Buckinghamshire County Council’s Special Educational Needs Transport team at County Hall, Aylesbury and not by the school.
Children who meet the criteria can be transported in buses or taxis with other children attending our school who live in the same area. Most assisted transport has a driver and a passenger escort.
