Hi, I am Liz Webber and I am the Parent Ambassador at Chiltern Wood School.

I am here to support and help you in any which way I can to make your parenting experience at Chiltern Wood School a positive and enjoyable one. From helping you with form filling, to providing information on activities, to organising informative and useful training and workshops, as well as running coffee mornings and parent groups.

I know from my own experience that parenting a child with additional needs is exhausting and difficult, but also rewarding and delightful.

I am here for you. Feel free to give me a call or drop me an e-mail. I can do home visits or meet you outside for a walk and a chat. I will also be outside the school during drop offs on Thursday mornings, alternating between Cressex and Downley.

If anyone has any ideas or requests for me, I would love to hear about them.

I look forward to meeting you.

Liz

I’ve been part of the parent volunteering scheme for the last couple of years and have really enjoyed it. The staff are very supportive, and it’s been a great way to get to know other parents with children at the school. During this time I’ve learnt more about the school and it feels very satisfying to have provided a contribution in some small way.

  • Our Parent Volunteers regularly assist the school staff in a variety of ways.

    Jobs may range from:

    • helping teachers with preparing items for class, for example, cutting out craft materials or laminating items, etc.

    • helping to tidy the outdoor areas, for example, sweeping, painting, gardening, etc.

    • preparing for events, for example, making Christmas items fro the Christmas fair.

    Your contribution is important!

  • There are many reasons to get involved including:

    • Enhancing education and social opportunities for children.

    • Pupils (with a parent volunteering at school) exhibit more positive attitudes and behaviour and have higher education standards.

    • Improved teacher morale.

    • Great parental sense of satisfaction.

    • Chance to meet other parents. Our sessions are very sociable and we also meet once a term for a Parent Volunteer social.

  • Step 1: Speak to Liz, our Parent Ambassador for further info.

Step 2: Complete a volunteer information sheet with your details.

Step 3: Complete the volunteer agreement which sets out the school’s expectations of you and what you can expect from the school.

Step 4: Complete a routine Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) application.

Step 5: Once a clear DBS check is back, you will receive your blue volunteers t-shirt and be invited to join us for the next session.
